Nysiros

Nisyros is a small volcanic island located in the Dodecanese group of Greece, between Kos and Tilos. Known for its dramatic landscapes, Nisyros offers a unique blend of natural beauty, history, and tranquility. The island’s most striking feature is its active volcano, with its central crater, Stefanos, being a major attraction where visitors can walk on its lunar-like surface and witness bubbling fumaroles.

The island’s capital, Mandraki, is a charming village with narrow streets, white-washed houses, and traditional Greek tavernas. Nisyros also boasts beautiful beaches like Pali and Lies, offering crystal-clear waters and serenity, ideal for those seeking a peaceful escape. Historical sites such as the Paleokastro, a well-preserved ancient acropolis, and the Monastery of Panagia Spiliani, perched on a cliff, add to the island’s cultural richness.

Nisyros’ volcanic nature has also created unique geothermal features, and its fertile soil supports abundant olive groves and vineyards. It’s a quieter, less-touristy destination, perfect for hiking and immersing in the raw natural beauty of the Aegean.
